Jakarta, InfoPublik - Indonesian rice products will soon enter the Saudi Arabian market. State-run logistics firm Perum Bulog will begin exporting small packaging rice of 200 grams to the Middle East.

The product was initiated by Bulog President Director Budi Waseso in 2018 and was designed to provide affordable rice for the people.

"I made sacheted 200-gram of rice that people can afford at Rp2,000. People can now eat rice with affordable price and it will be available everywhere," said Budi, in his office in Jakarta, Thursday (02/06/2020).

Budi said that 200 grams of rice equals to one portion and people with lower income can afford to buy one portion at a time.

"For this initial stage, 8 containers will be exported starting next week. We will export the sacheted rice because Saudi Arabia asked for a finished product," said Buwas

Buwas said that the rice bought by the Saudi Arabian businessman would later target Indonesian consumers who are Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) or Indonesians who are conducting pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

"The 200-gram-packaged rice will be used for consumption for Indonesian migrant workers and pilgrims," he said.

From information collected on Thursday (6/2/2020), Bulog packaged rice has been produced since Bulog 2018. The initiative came from Budi, who was recently inaugurated. With this small packaged rice, people can buy rice at cheap prices. (Reporter: Baheramsyah, Translator: penni P. Rusman)
