Jakarta, InfoPublik – The government inaugurated the Cimahi Techno Park (CTP) area, an area prepared to increase regional competitiveness based on local potential.
The area expected to be the Indonesia’s most advanced area for science and technology was inaugurated by Research, Technology and Higher Education Minister, Head of the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) Head, and Cimahi Deputy Mayor, on Tuesday (9/24).
BPPT Head said that CTP is an exemplary area due to its success in developing two industrial clusters of animation industry and food-beverage industry.
"The animation industry in Indonesia has been performing splendidly domestically and globally. A number of human resources of this industry such as the film animators have successfully worked in various film productions abroad," Hammam said, as quoted in the BPPT release Jakarta, Tuesday (24/9).
He explained that the development and construction of CTP area is an effort to accelerate the development of existing local potential in the form of a creative economy. "The type of creative economy developed at CTP is focused on the processed food industry and telematics and animation industry.
Hammam said that even developed countries succeeded in developing techno parks such as Japan and South Korea needed a relatively long time in creating a Techno Park area.
"It takes a relatively long time to construct a techno park from the first until its final stage. Even for some countries, tt requires up to more than ten years. Cimahi City, in this regards, only took less than five years to construct CTP, with all budget constraints," he said.
Based on the data, up to 2019, Cimahi Techno Park has also given birth to 19 technology-based startups as the result of the incubation process which was carried out in the CTP area.
"CTP achievement is an extraordinary accomplishment for the region. CTP has created 19 startups in the fields of telematics, animation, crafts, and processed food and beverages.," he said.
He added that the effort to encourage the emergence of local startups in Cimahi are indicated by the existence of facilities to be used for business development.
Some of the activities that are routinely carried out by CTP, among others, are technology business incubation and innovative SMEs acceleration. "CTP also provides business and technology consulting services, festivals, and the provision of co-working space," he explained.
Hammam hopes that in the future, Cimahi Techno Park is able to play a role as an innovation-driven community economic institution in the City of Cimahi.
"With the commitment and capability of human resources in the City of Cimahi, in the future, CTP will become the most advanced Science and Technology Region (KST) in Indonesia," he said.
Techno Park is one of the 3rd Strategy of the 6th Development Priority Agenda (Nawa Cita) implementation as stipulated in the 2015—2019 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) stating the development of Techno Park in regencies/municipalities by ministries/institutions based on competencies, main tasks, and functions.
The development of Cimahi Techno Park (CTP) begins after the issuance of Presidential Decree Number 2 of 2015. The development was initiated by the City of Cimahi government and was assisted by BPPT. The development of industrial clusters at CTP is focused on two industrial clusters, namely the food-beverage industry, and the animation industry.
