Indonesia Records US$14.20 Billion Export in August 2019

Jakarta, InfoPublik - Indonesia Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded export value of US$14.20 billion in August 2019. Indonesia's exports dropped by 7.40 percent compared to the previous month and decreased by 9.99 percent compared to the same period last year.

Head of BPS Suhariyanto said oil and gas exports suffered a significant decline by 45.48 percent while non-oil and gas experienced a decline by 3.20 percent. Crude oil, crude oil products, and gas are the sector experiencing a decrease.

"Non-oil and gas exports in August 2019 contributed 93.87 percent of total exports in August 2019. This sector comprises Industry (78.71 percent), mining (12.79 percent), oil and gas (6.13 percent), and agriculture (2.37 percent)," Suhariyanto added on Monday (16 / 9).

He explained the largest decrease in non-oil exports occurred in mineral fuels by 8.23 percent (US$157.9 million). The highest increase happened to jewellery/gems by 25.31 percent (US$168.8 million).

The top export destinations of Indonesia’s non-oil and gas in August 2019 were China (US$2.27 billion), the United States (US$1.57 billion), and Japan (US$1.18 billion) with total value of the three reached 17.73 percent.

According to the origin of the goods, Indonesia's largest exports in January-August 2019 came from West Java with a value of US$20.13 billion (18.29 percent), East Java US$12.59 billion (11.44 percent), and East Kalimantan US$11.9 billion (10.08 percent).
