Jakarta, InfoPublik - Transportation Ministry is focusing on optimizing accessibility to and from Kertajati Airport. One of the efforts is coordinating with Public Works and Public Housing Ministry (PUPR) to expedite construction of Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) Toll Road.

"The President is very concerned about the utility of Kertajati Airport while PUPR Minister has said that Cisumdawu Toll Road will be completed within a year. I think we must preserve the existing infrastructure," said Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, Saturday (6/7).

The Cisumdawu Toll Road, 61 kilometers long, will shorten the travel time of Bandung - Kertajati Airport to be just 1 hour. "It is equal to the traveling time of other airports to the closest cities," said Transportation Minister.

In addition to intensive coordination with PUPR Ministry, Minister Budi will also follow up the input from passengers at Kertajati Airport suggesting the increase of Damri Bus departure frequency.

"The Central Government, Regional Government, and Angkasa Pura II will jointly oversee the activities to optimize accessibility to the airport. So far, there has been input from passengers suggesting the increase of Damri Bus departure frequency," he said.

As of now, the number of flights at Kertajati Airport in Majalengka is considered to have met the expectation. Flight slot occupancy has reached 70 percent and this number keeps growing.

Minister Budi added that Kertajati Airport which is able to accommodate 200 take-offs and landings in a day is expected to become more and more advanced in the future.
