Jakarta, InfoPublik – Indonesian Government will officially implement the Minister of Transportation Regulation Number PM 118/2018 on Special Rental Transportation Services on 18 June.
Several matters emphasized in the regulations are the safety and security of online taxi services’ drivers and passengers, tariffs, partnership between transportation network company and driver, and suspension implementation.
Land Transportation’s Director General Budi Setiyadi said that referring to PM 88/2018 on Norms, Standards, Procedures, and Criteria for Land Transportation’s Electronic Integrated Business Licensing, operators of non fixed-route public transportation must receive recommendation letter from Regent/Mayor, or recommendation letter from Governor for those whose operational area exceeds one regency/city, but still within the area one Province.
"Therefore, regarding permit issues, I immediately invited and cooperated with Head of Provincial Transportation Agency from all over Indonesia, and Head of Greater Jakarta Transportation Agency (BPTJ). We will issue a circular letter informing that license for special rental transportation shall refer to PM 118/2018," he said (15/6).
In addition, he added that his administration have submitted a proposal to Finance Ministry regarding the differentiation in transportation licencing procedure for business entities and individuals.
Although the regulation will come into effect on June 18, Budi Setiyadi said that the regulation will still needs some adjustments regarding licensing as previously mentioned during the first 6 months of transition period.
“We have requested the Police and Transportation Agency not to enforce the law, but to emphasize on education (during the period)," he said.
