Indonesia Optimizes Saudi Arabian Tourists Market Potential

Jakarta, InfoPublik – Indonesia is optimizing its efforts in working on Saudi Arabian tourists market potential at the Riyadh Travel Fair held at Al Faisaliah Hotel, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Indonesia’s Government was looking to tap the great potential of tourist market from the Middle East. Tourism Ministry continues to promote Indonesia’s tourism brand “Wonderful Indonesia” including in Riyadh Travel Fair 2019.

It is one of the largest tourism fairs in Saudi Arabia with visitors estimated at 28,000. Participation of around 300 exhibitors and 50 countries is expected in the three day event that will be held from 28 to 30 March 2019.

Tourism Ministry’s Deputy Marketing Development II Nia Niscaya said in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/3) that the participation in the event would be an effort to tap the great potential of tourism market opportunity, particularly in Saudi Arabia, considering the continuously increasing growth of Travel Fair visitor every year.

“In 2017, over 250 exhibitors participated the event, with visitors totaling more than 30 thousand people. We will make good use of this event in order to contribute to this year’s target of 20 million foreign tourists.” She said.

Nia said this figure was an increase of the previous Riyadh Travel Fair 2016 that featured 246 exhibitors with 25,724 visitors. In addition, the figure was a significant rise of 30 percent from Riyadh Travel Fair 2015.

“We are aware of the huge potential of Riyadh. B-to-B Meeting with Riyadh’s tourism industry players will certainly be optimized. Information will be provided as complete as possible. Tourism packages have already been attractively prepared,” she said.

In general, Saudi Arabian tourists are at a very good level of economic welfare. Referring to data from Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, their spending power is at SAR68 billion.

Statistics of the Tourist Information and Research Center informed that Saudi Arabian’s tourists spent SAR29 billion last year. The figure came from 4 million Saudi Arabian tourists’ holiday.

“So far, their favorite main destinations are Bali and Jakarta. Other alternative destinations are Riau Islands, West Java, East Java, and North Sumatra,” said Nia.

Indonesia will feature 3 components at the Riyadh Travel Fair, namely the distinctive flavor of the archipelago’s coffee, henna art, and Rampak Gendang , a percussion ensemble indigenous to West Java, which are expected to amaze visitors.

Moreover, various interesting contents will also be available at the Indonesian booth to attract visitors at the event, starting from information on area, testimonials on Indonesian drinks, to a demo corner with large LED screens.
