Jakarta, InfoPublik – Communication and Information Technology Ministry’s directorate general for resources and equipment of post and information technology (SDPPI) implemented the modernization of State Budget payment system. It used corporate credit cards in government purchases. The action was to follow up Finance Ministry’s appeal for cashless government's spending.

"The reason is SDPPI has numerous Technical Implementation Units (UPT) across the country that require intensive coordination. It causes the high frequency of officials’ travel. This is quite distressing for the financial section to anticipate travels. Credit card can accommodate the payment needed for accommodations and transportations," said Ismail, MCIT’s director general for resources and equipment of post and information technology, in the signing of Corporate Credit Card Usage MoU between SDPPI and BNI 46 Bank at Menara Merdeka, Jakarta, Tuesday (3/13).

Corporate credit card usage aims to minimize cash in state’s financial transactions; improve transaction security; and reduce cost of funds/idle cash from the use of petty cash.

"Credit card will also be audited by the Supreme Audit Agency. This is for the sake of duties so that there will be no more fictitious transactions," Ismail added.

He explained the implementation of corporate credit card usage policy requires a determination and cultural change. In addition, leaders’ consistency is needed to maintain this policy.

He also urged that this policy will be well executed and the credit card is used as needed. "We should optimize the use of corporate credit card for needed transactions. I hope other working units in MCIT can also join to apply this policy in the future," he concluded. (Source: kominfo.go.id, Translator: Wilda Stiana)
