Indonesia is Ready for Disruptive Economy Era

Jakarta, InfoPublik – Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Menristekdikti) Mohamad Nasir encouraged Indonesian economy to be better and to be ready to enter Disruptive era.

"One of the features is the use of information technology. Information technology has removed the boundaries of geography, spurring the emergence of new ways, generating new innovations that are not visible, and unwittingly have changed our way of life; affect our life order and even replacing the existing system. This is what is called the disruptive era and we have felt these moments," said Minister of Research and Technology in his written statement received by Infopublik on Saturday (1/13). 

The Minister of Research and Technology addressed the inauguration of Muliaman Dharmansyah Hadad as a Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business of Diponegoro University (UNDIP) in  Semarang. Nasir also said that it is Muliaman has an experience in leading the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority. His experience will be very useful to face the financial services transformation using information technology. 

"Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad is an expert in three fields, namely banking, strategic planning, and organizational transformation," he said. He hopes that with the title, Muliaman's contribution to development will be increased, especially in the state finance sector, particularly in insurance, banking and financial services. " Mr. Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad is expected to strengthen our academic ranks and UNDIP will be more quickly become World Class University," said Nasir. 

On the same occasion, Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad in his speech with the theme of Stability vs. Growth: The Role of Financial Services Sector in the Economy and Its Future Challenge said in an economy, the financial services sector plays an important role as a growth catalyst, as a provider of funds for society and perpetrators efforts to finance a wide range of economic activities, as well as a place for people to save or invest their savings, protect themselves from future risks, and prepare for old age. 

"Along with the change of times, the financial services sector also continues to grow with increasing assets, increasing complexity, increasingly diverse products with various benefits and risks, as well as rapid technological advances," said Muliaman. In addition, Muliaman said that Indonesia is currently facing an urgent interest in the financial services sector to provide an increasingly optimal capacity in national economic development, in particular to achieve higher economic growth, sustainable, and also equitable. 

In addition to ristekdikti minister, this event was also attended by Chairman and Members of BPK, UNDIP Rector, Board of Directors and Commissioners of Banking and Financial Institutions. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
