Jakarta, InfoPublik - House of Representative Commission XI member Kardaya Warnika stated that Tax Amnesty policy is a stake to the government’s reputation.Since the policy is mandated by law, it must be executed consistently.
The statement was delivered by the Gerindra party politician in a discussion themed ‘Tax Amnesty Uproar’ in Cikini, Central Jakarta, Saturday (9/3).
According to him, tax amnesty implementation actually raises many issues and concerns in the community.
"Tax amnesty is a gamble. Thecountry’s reputation is at stake. If it did not work, the country would lose its reputation. This is not the matter of tax, but reputation," said Kardaya.
The House, he said, has been questioning the fairness aspect of the tax amnesty from the first place, because it forgives tax evaders.
Under normal circumstances, the House would have rejected the Tax Amnesty act.
"However, due to country’s revenue crisis state, we need income because of unreached tax target," said Kardaya. The House, said the former Commission VII Chairman, agreed to execute tax amnesty. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
