Jakarta, InfoPublik - Countries in ASEAN has officially entered the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in January 2016. The government has also been prepared with various regulations to encourage domestic industries to compete in the free market of ASEAN.
According to the Trade Minister Thomas Lembong, Indonesia does not have to worry in facing AEC because Indonesia's trade balance deficit has been improving since the second semester of 2015. "The trend is quite positive because the Indonesian trade deficit is decreasing. We believe Indonesia will be the winner in the competition of the free market," said Mr. Lembong, Sunday (1/17).
In fact, the Minister continued, based on observations made by the Ministry of Trade, the countries in ASEAN are concerned about Indonesia’s market expansion.
"We have observed with the various stakeholders. It is the other ASEAN countries that are quite wary of Indonesia’s market expansion. They are anxious about the expansion of our SMEs," he said. (Translator: Siti Chodijah)
