Jakarta, InfoPublik - Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (CSMEs) will continue to boost small and medium enterprises sector by targeting Rp100 trillion of People's Business Credit (KUR) in 2016.

Minister of CSMEs A. A. G. N. Puspayoga said in 2015, the Ministry helped by banks managed to distribute KUR that amounted to Rp22.75 trillion with 12 percent interest.

"Thanks to the banks’ hard work, we managed to distribute 75.85 percent of our credit target of Rp30 million. This is of course not enough to boost the current slow economy wheels," he said on Monday (1/18) at his office in Jakarta.

Therefore, he added, the Government will increase interest subsidy amount so that KUR recipients only have to pay nine percent. KUR is also expected to be absorbed by Rp100 trillion in 2016.

In 2015, the amount of subsidy given by the government allowed the public to pay interest of 12 percent—22 percent without subsidy.

Minister Puspayoga added that KUR program distributed by the government is an aid program which is loaned to micro business with amount of Rp25 million and more than Rp25 million to retail business.

"In addition to the interest subsidy, the government also applies collateral exemptions  for KUR recipients who apply for loan of less than Rp25 million," he concluded. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
