Police Urges Public to Create Peaceful Situation ahead of Simultaneous Regional Elections

Jakarta, InfoPublik- Indonesian National Police urged all levels of society to create peaceful situation ahead of simultaneous regional elections in 2017.

National Police Head of Public Relations Insp. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar urged all layers of society to mantain security and do not make public unrest by spreading hoaxes or fake information. "To all elements of society, we urged everyone  not to create public unrest. Everything should be resolved peacefully," Boy said in Police Headquarters in Jakarta, Thursday (2/2).

According to him, the police will always monitor development in society. "If there is theft, the thief should be arrested. If there is a robbery, the perpetrator should be arrested. So does with other crimes," he said.

He added that in current situation, there could be a war of information and perception. In condition like this, he urged all parties to minimize any potential that could lead to social unrest.

"We have to keep our country safe and peaceful so that the national development can be successful. For the advancement of the nation, we have to unite," he explained. (Translator: Sugiarti)
