BPPT Owns Emissions Test Facilities for Two Wheels Vehicle

Jakarta, InfoPublik – Indonesian Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) has now had the facility to test vehicle emission for motorcycles with 250cc up to 2000cc engine capacity.

Head of BPPT Unggul Priyanto said luxury tax will be imposed to large motorcycle with engines of 250cc up to 2000cc. However, if the motorcycles pass the emissions test to be fuel efficient and environmentally friendly, incentive of tax cuts by 25 to 50 percent will be given. It was revealed that the emission test will apply Austrian technology.
 
"BPPT has been appointed by the Ministry of Finance to conduct the emissions testing. However, the range of the price or cost of emission testing is currently still being calculated," said Mr. Priyanto after the opening ceremony of a program called The Readiness of BPPT Facilities to Support The National Program of Low Carbon Emission through the Minister of Finance Regulation Number 64 Year 2014 and the signing of MoU between BPPT and EMCO in Science and Technology Research Center (Puspiptek) in Serpong, Tuesday (1/19).
 
On that occasion, BPPT also signed an agreement for the development of machine and tools for power plants and transportion. Mr. Priyanto expected that through the cooperation, Indonesia could improve the technology for local content development.
 
BPPT’s Deputy Chief of Industrial Design and Engineering Technology Erzi Agson Gani added that the emission test facility proved BPPT’s role in assisting the development of automotive manufacturing industry in the country.
