Jakarta, InfoPublik- General Election Commission (KPU) stated that the inauguration of the President-elect and Vice President-elect will remain on schedule. It will take place on 20 October 2019, the end of the term of office.
KPU commissioner Viryan Aziz stated that the 1945 Constitution provides that the term of office of the President and Vice President is five years. The inauguration for the previous period was on 20 October so "the inauguration for the next period should also be on 20 October," said Viryan in his office on Monday (30/09/2019).
Previously, it was rumored that President Joko Widodo proposed to bring the date of the inauguration a day forward or on 19 October 2019. However, this information was denied by the President’s office. (Reporter: Eko Budiono, Translator: Erik Limantara)
