Jakarta, InfoPublik – The Indonesia Athletics Federation (PB PASI) executive board has not completed its list of athletes competing in the SEA Games 2017 athletic competition in Malaysia, August 2017.
"We are still monitoring athletes’ latest data. Some athletes like Maria Londa, Emilia Nova and Agus Prayogo will still be competing," said PB PASI Secretary General Tigor M. Tanjung in a bonus-giving event to national record-breaking athletes in Jakarta, Monday (4/24).
According to him, Maria Londa is projected to compete in the women's long jump, while Emilia Nova will compete in the women's 100 meters hurdles and heptathlon.
In addition, Eki Febri Ekawati will compete in the shot put branch and Suwandi Wijaya in the men's long jump.
"We are still waiting for Hendro’s latest data for the race walking branch, because he is still training in Spain," said Tigor.
According to Tanjung, PASI National Training Camp considers the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) in Baku, Azerbaijan, in May as a practice for athletes to compete in the SEA Games in Malaysia.
" Our long-term goal is the 2020 Tokyo Olympics," he said.
Tigor is optimistic that the men's relay team will be able to score at at the 4x100 meter relay branch of the SEA Games in 2017, despite a change of formation after Mohamad Rozikin had an accident on Saturday (4/8).
"We have appointed Eko Rimbawan to replace Rozikin on the men's relay team. Currently, the men's relay team is still competing in the Asian Grand Prix in China and Taiwan. They also will be competing in the ISG 2017 with a change of formation on Yaspi Boby," he concluded. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
