Balige, (February 24, 2023) - Lake Toba, North Sumatra, will host F1 Powerboat (F1H2O) world championship for the next five years or until 2027. This is an opportunity for North Sumatra and Indonesia, in general, to show our abilities to host an event and to showcase our natural resources.
The natural beauty of Lake Toba won direct praise from the Founder of H20 Racing, Nicolo Di San Germano. Nicolo stated that natural beauty is one of the reasons Lake Toba was lined up to host the F1 Powerboat world championship series, which on Friday (Feb. 24) has started its practice sessions and will start its main race on February 26.
"The beauty of Lake Toba deserves to be known by the entire world community," said Nicolo during a press conference at the F1 Powerboat Lake Toba 2023 Media Center, Friday, February 24.
Following up on this, his party as the promoter has made an agreement with Warner Bros., one of the largest broadcast companies in the world. With the extensive network owned by the company, Nicolo guarantees that not only racing events but Lake Toba will also become an international topic of conversation.
On this occasion, Nicolo expressed his appreciation for the readiness of the local committee, specifically the Indonesian government, to host the F1 Powerboat. "With careful preparation, I hope this event can run smoothly and successfully. I am very proud of Indonesia's cooperation and potential," he said.
180 Million People will Watch F1 Powerboat
The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, expressed the same point. He believes Lake Toba will become a global topic of conversation. "Because from the reports I got, we (F1 Powerboat) will be watched by more than 180 million (people). I don't think we ever imagined that Lake Toba or F1 Powerboat would be watched live by 180 million spectators," said Coordinating Minister Luhut.
He also thanked all parties who have jointly supported and launched the F1 Powerboat event starting from the Governor of North Sumatra, the Regent of Toba, Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), Indonesian National Police (Polri), health workers, PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (InJourney), the media, and other parties.
He also hopes that the F1 Powerboat, which is planned to be attended by President Joko Widodo, will run well, smoothly, and successfully.
