Jakarta, InfoPublik - Former Indonesian WBA Featherweight Champion, Chris John, said that boxing training camp should be held to prepare Indonesia’s participation in the SEA Games and Asian Games.
“National training camp should be held in order to improve the boxers’ readiness and concentration,” said Chris ’The Dragon’ John in a press release in Jakarta, Saturday (1/21).
He added that the right moment to hold the training camp is two or three months prior to the event.
Previously, the Central Board of the Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association (PP Pertina) suspended the training camp (started on November 15, 2016) on December 20, 2016 due to allowance arrears of the 2017 SEA Games athletes.
“the training camp must be started two or three months before the event,” he responded the issue.

Youth and Sports Ministry stated that the athletes and trainers’ allowance would soon be disbursed during the training camp.
The ministry’s Deputy IV on the Sports and Achievement Improvement Sector, Gatot S. Dewa Broto, on Thursday, December 22, 2016 said that the allowance would be disbursed no later than Monday, December 26, 2016 or earlier than the previous agenda on January 2017.
The ministry will utilise fund from various posts that has not been absorbed. The total amount of the fund that would be disbursed is Rp 28 billion. However, no official statement from the ministry was available regarding the certainty of the disbursement of the fund. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
