Jakarta, InfoPublik - For the first time in his racing career, Rio Haryanto tested the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Canada. Rio said that he learned many things from the two free practice sessions.
When Rio was still racing in GP3 or GP2, Canada was never on his calendar. Therefore, he could only try the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve of Montreal after entering the Formula 1 this year.
In the first free practice session on Friday (10/6), he occupied the 18th position with time record of 1 minute 18.103 seconds. Rio was able to sharpen the record time to 1 minute 17.423 seconds in the second free practice, but his position fell to number 22.
"Today (Saturday 11/6) is a good day for us and it seems like we are more competitive than in the previous series. We’ve tried a few things on the car and learned a lot in FP1," Rio said in a release here on Saturday (11 / 6).
"It is the first time for me to be here. I am more familiar with the track and enjoy it," he said.
“From the afternoon session, I think we can do more work on balance. Our speed looks pretty good. We did some testing on short and long distances, so we can learn a lot from today, "he concluded. (translator: Sugiarti)
