Jakarta, InfoPublik – Indonesia’s best badminton mixed doubles Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir won the 2016 Malaysia Open Superseries Premier title after beating home’s Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying.
Tontowi/Liliyana had to fight three games against Chan/Goh in the final match at the Malawati Stadium, Shah Alam, on Sunday (4/10).
They finally came out as the winner with a score of 23-21, 13-21, and 21-16. In a game that lasted for 1 hour and 21 minutes, Tontowi/Liliyana led the first game with a score 11-4 and 13-6. However, the Malaysian pair won seven straight points and made the game draw with a score 13-13.
Tontowi/Liliyana then led again and received a game point in the score 20-17. But Chan/Goh was able to hold the score to 20-20 and 21-21. Tontowi/Liliyana then grabbed two extra points to secure the opening game.
On the second game, Chan/Goh won with a score 21-13.
On the third game, Tontowi/Liliyana grabbed four points in a row to finish the game and won the title. They were Indonesia's only representative in the final round. (Siti Chodijah)
