PORDASI National Summit XIV 2024: Transforming Towards Autonomy for Global Success (Opened by Minister of Youth and Sports)

Jakarta, InfoPublik - The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) of the Republic of Indonesia, Dito Ariotedjo, has officially opened the 14th National Conference (Musyawarah Nasional/Munas) of the Indonesian Sport Horse Association (“PORDASI”) year 2024. The venue took place on Wednesday evening, November 13, 2024, at the Aston Kartika Hotel, Jakarta.

The conference was attended by 24 PORDASI’s provincial administrators (members) from total 26 chapters of PORDASI.

“Thank you for your dedication and contribution to sport horse in Indonesia,” as attribution by the Minister to the President of PORDASI, Triwatty Marciano, and it’s team for the tenure of 2020-2024 period.

The main agenda of the National Conference is to elect the next Presidents of PORDASI to succeed Triwatty Marciano, who has completed her 2020-2024 tenure as President of the organization.

The Minister convinced all stakeholders, persons, and communities to unite for Sport Horse in Indonesia by adding statement that, “Sport Horse is our president’s favourite sport, so let’s unite for Indonesian sport horse, I hope that in the future there will be concrete steps so that Indonesian horse sport can be better at achievement,” said Dito Ariotedjo.

Previously, the President of the National Sports Committee (KONI) of Indonesia, Lieutenant General TNI Retired Marciano Norman, convinced all stakeholders, persons, and communities to unite to achieve success. “A struggle based on good intentions and carried out with a sincere heart will be good. Sport horse unite us, don’t let organizations divide us,” said Marciano, who was an athlete and has been activist of sport horse in the country since the 1960s.

To PORDASI, led by Triwatty and members and whole staff, KONI expressed gratitude and appreciation, “I appreciate the performance of PP. PORDASI most recently participating in the success of Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) XXI Aceh-Sumut 2024 (Indonesian National Sports Week/ Biggest & Most prestigious multievent),” said Marciano. The remarks to appreciate PORDASI’s success of organizing Pacu/ Sport Horse Racing, Equestrian, and also the Horseback Archery (HBA) exhibition.

In fact, the Pacu / Sport Horse Racing match at HM. Hasan Gayo Arena, Blang Bebangka, Takengon, Aceh, was praised by the President of KONI specifically, “We are very proud because Sport Horse Racing was held at the best venue in the country and attended by around 100,000 spectators (record),” said the President of KONI.

Most importantly, the president of KONI saw that the success of a sports organization is highly dependent on its organizational governance. “Proper organizational governance will lead to the achievements of its athletes in the future,” Marciano emphasized.

Marciano also supports the ‘Organizational Transformation’ implemented by PORDASI as mandated by the organization’s Extraordinary National Conference (“Munaslub”) on June 8, 2024. Organizational transformation is important, as is the Indonesian Weightlifting, Powerlifting, and Bodybuilding Association (PB.PABBSI), which has transformed into three sports organizations based on various sports. One of them is weightlifting, under the PB.PABSI organization, which was able to present the first Olympic weightlifting gold medal for Indonesia at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Referring to the PORDASI XIV/2024 Extraordinary National Conference in June 2024, which ratified and declared the 2024 PORDASI AD/ART (the Articles of Association and Bylaws/Rulebook), so the 2024 Pordasi XIV National Conference, for the first time, elected four Presidents of the PORDASI National Federation, namely PORDASI PACU (Sport Horse Racing), PORDASI EQUESTRIAN, PORDASI POLO, and PORDASI HORSEBACK ARCHERY (HBA / Berkuda Memanah).

Regarding the transformation of the PORDASI Organization, the President of PP.PORDASI (Central Committee) said that one of many reasons was for sport horse achievements, especially Equestrian as an Olympic Sport today. Indonesia is aiming to be in the top 5 rankings in the 2024 Olympics. “Of course, as one of the sports organizations, as always, PORDASI is trying to adjust our work program to support the government’s policy and target, one of which is organizational transformation,” as explained by PORDASI’s President, Triwatty Marciano.

“Although, on the other hand, in terms of organization, Pordasi has developed very rapidly, the strengths of other countries in sport horse are much more advanced. Thus, as the sport organization, PORDASI has done ‘Organizational Transformation’, so that each branch of sport can focus more on developing achievement sports, in order to catch up with other countries,” she continued to explain.

“According to 2024 report, PP PORDASI Recruitment and Screening Team (TPP), established at 2024 PORDASI General Assembly Summit, each of the four sports horse branches already has their own president candidates,” explained Triwatty Marciano.

The report also explained that the four candidates for president of the PORDASI federation had gone through a long process candidacy and screening for 1 month.

The four candidates are Dewi Larasati (Tike) as a candidate for President of PORDASI-EQUESTRIAN with Budi Tulodo as secretary general; Teddy Soediro as President candidate for PORDASI-PACU / Sport Horse Racing; H. Muhammad Bunyamin or “Benny Polo” as President candidate for of PORDASI-POLO; and Dicky Kamsari as a President candidate for PORDASI-BERKUDA MEMANAH / HBA. So as in the future, each organization of National PORDASI Federation, can have direct affiliation with their respective international federations.

PORDASI-PACU / Sport Horse Racing will be internationally affiliated with the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA), PORDASI-EQUESTRIAN, which is already a member of the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI).

Current condition, Indonesia represented by Indonesian Polo Association, is a member of the Federation of International Polo (FIP). In the future, there will be an affirmation/improvement of the position of PORDASI-POLO which is a member of FIP. PORDASI-BERKUDA MEMANAH also expected to be affiliated to its respective international federation anytime soon, including forming a regional federation with Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore.
