Jakarta, InfoPublik – Lombok Tourism Polytechnic (Poltekpar) participated in the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual Summit at Radisson Blu, Cebu, the Philippines on May 9—12, 2019.
At the event, Poltekpar announced its membership and campaigned post-2018 earthquake tourism in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
Hamsu Hanafi, the director of Poltekpar, said in a statement on Sunday (5/12), they attended the Summit as a new member of PATA 2019 that also made them as the PATA Indonesia Lombok Tourism Polytechnic Student Chapter. It followed the Bandung Tourism College (STP Bandung), which had long been a member.
"Poltekpar must regularly participate in international fora including PATA to be able to compete with other tourism schools, at least in the ASEAN level," he said.
He said lecturers and students will be involved in both as participants and as speakers at the PATA’s annual event held in the Asia Pacific countries.
"Our missions are improving the human resources quality and promoting tourism potentials in Indonesia, especially in Lombok," he said.
On the occasion, he also met other delegations to discuss cooperation opportunities and Lombok tourism development after the 2018 quake. The collaboration included the development in a number of tourism villages in Central Lombok.
"Joining PATA is a realization of tourism education institutions’ role that is to strengthen vocational schools that produce skilled tourism workers," he concluded. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
