Jakarta, InfoPublik - Energy and Mineral Resources Minister, Arifin Tasrif will open the First Energy Transition Working Group Session (ETWG 1), as a series Indonesia’s G20 Presidency of 2022 in Yogyakarta on March 24-25, 2022. This was stated by the Ministry’s Head of Bureau of Communications, Public Information Services, and Cooperations, Agung Pribadi, in his written statement, Saturday, March 19,2022. Agung said the ETWG 1 Session will be attended by 20 G20 member countries, 10 invited countries, and 8 international organizations, offline or online. Until September 2022, various activities of the G20 Energy Transitions will intensify, therefore, we expect the participation from stakeholders, including the public. "Energy and Mineral Resources Minister will attend the ETWG 1 and other side events. The ETWG in Yogyakarta will be the opening of the ETWG sessions," said Agung. The ETWG-1 session will discuss three priority issues of energy transition, namely access, technology, and financing. "Global energy security, securing energy accessibility, and smart and clean energy technologies scaling up. And the most important thing from the session is the discussion of the main plans and designs for the Road to Bali Communique from various G20 member countries for transitional energy," said Agung. In addition, there will be presentations from major partner international organizations. The session will also discuss how to create affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. In the field of technology, he continued, there will be discussion on efforts to improve and utilize technology for clean industrial development, integration of renewable energy and energy efficiency. During the ETWG-1 session, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister will witness the signing of a power purchase agreement (PPA) of New and Renewable Energy power plant, green financing and the purchase of a renewable energy certificate/REC. There is also motorcycle parade promoting conversion from fuel to electricity, and an international seminar related to reducing diesel power plants use. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister is scheduled to attend Energy Transitions Youth Forum, which is a forum for young generation to take action, including providing interventions related to energy transition. The intervention will later be submitted to the Chair and Co-Chair of the G20 ETWG. "We provide opportunities for young people, the successors in the energy sector to provide intervention and commitment to energy transition efforts. At the Energy Transitions Youth Forum there will also energy transition innovation competition, and a youth movement program from the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, PT PLN, and PT Pertamina for the younger generation to build clean energy in the country," said Agung. The 2022 G20 Energy Transition Forum includes a series of meetings starting from ETWG 1 in Yogyakarta next week, ETWG 2 in Labuan Bajo, NTT, and ETWG 3 in Bali, and Energy Transition Ministerial Meeting (ETMM). The highlight of Indonesia's G20 Presidency is the G20 Summit in Bali in September 2022. Until September 2022, various side events will also enliven the Indonesia’s G20 Presidency, including a spate of Webinars titled “Ensuring Just Transitions for All”; Making CCS/CCUS Affordable; Maintaining Energy Security during Transitions; Achieving Global Energy Access Goals in the Decade of Actions; Assuring Energy Access and Transitions in Archipelagic States; and Escalating Gas Role in Energy Transitions. There are also parallel events the IRENA Investment Forum and EBTKE Conference and Expo 2022.
