Jakarta, InfoPublik - The Government is currently taking massive steps to develop the service quality of the 5G telecommunications network. So, people can reap plenty of economic opportunities in the digital world.

"We are now developing technology to provide high-quality services for the people," said Communications and Informatics Minister Johnny Gerard Plate in a hearing before the House of Representatives Commission I on Wednesday, 7 April.

Two policies are implemented to optimize the telecommunications services. The first is a neutral technology policy for mobile operators. This policy provides relaxation for the mobile operators in using their frequency permits.

Besides, mobile technology can be adopted easily by the country without having to submit various licenses to agencies. So, cellular use will also be more efficient in the near future.

In other words, mobile operators will receive flexibility in using radio frequency bands established in their permits. As a result, the latest mobile technology implementation will be more efficient and competitive.

The second policy is the farming and refarming that has been taking place a few years ago. The ministry carefully managed the frequency bands used by mobile operators. So, they will be more well ordered.

It will lead to a frequency band surplus that can be used to provide a quality telecommunications network. So, the remaining frequency band, a limited natural resource, can be used in the future.

"This national program aims to provide a new frequency slot that can be used by mobile operators," he said.

Such strategic steps can bring numerous changes in the country's business and industry, in terms of automation and digitalization. Therefore, the ministry has been starting the telecommunications network quality improvement in previous years.

This improvement can generate human and machine integration. Such human-to-machine interaction can create a variety of productive activities. It can also generate machine-to-machine communications or known today as the Internet of Things (IoT).

Artificial intelligence often used in machine-to-machine communications will boost the digital economy development in the country. "It can be the Indonesian welfare enabler," he added.

Minister Johnny believes the 5G telecommunications network will bring a positive impact on the country's digital economy sector. Most likely, many digital industry players in the country will grow thanks to the quality network.

The previous 4G telecommunication network operation has created opportunities for national digital economy players. In fact, there are applications created by Indonesians that become great companies with unicorn and decacorn statuses.

"The 4G operation proves Indonesia can be a major player in its own home through some domestic applications that transform into unicorn or decacorn," he said. (Photo: Amiriyandi/InfoPublik, Writer: Tri Antoro, Editor: Untung S, Translator: Filmon Leonard Warouw)
