Jakarta, InfoPublik - The Indonesian government and the International Energy Agency (IEA) established new collaboration to accelerate the energy transition program and strengthen economic recovery after COVID-19.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) Arifin Tasrif stated that this cooperation is a step forward towards Indonesia’s energy transition.

"Indonesia has set an ambitious New and Renewable Energy (EBT) target in its national energy and strategic transition policy through the formulation of a National Energy Grand Strategy. I am pleased that the IEA will increase its support through the IEA-Indonesia Alliance to achieve this target," said Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arifin Tasrif, after announcing the cooperation in Energy Transition with the IEA, as reported on the Ministry’s website, on Tuesday, 30 March.

Meanwhile, IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol said that IEA is very pleased with the establishment of this new alliance and is honored to have the support of President Joko Widodo.

"As Indonesia emerges from the COVID-19 crisis and takes big steps to grow the economy and modernize the energy sector, the policies taken in the next few years will have a major impact on regional and global energy trends," said Fatih.
