Jakarta, InfoPublik - Satria I Satellite Planned to Air March 2023
Satria I satellite will air in March 2023 on-orbit 146 East Longitude (BT). This delay occurred due to constraints due to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, which made the manufacturing process a bit slow.
"Satria I is planned to be placed in orbit in March 2023," said Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G Plate via a virtual press release on Monday (23/11/2020).
The Indonesian government has obtained permission from the International Telegraph Union (ITU) to launch it in the year above. Given the importance of this satellite in improving the quality of the domestic telecommunications network for the better.
"Indonesia is proposing and requesting an extension of the time to place the satellite in orbit for 14 months. We estimate that at the earliest in the fourth quarter of 2023," he said.
The government is intensively coordinating with ITU to be able to complete the various requirements needed to realize the above plan. In a meeting with ITU, the government proposed options that would strongly support the immediate realization of the above activities.
Meanwhile, the construction of the Satria I Satellite is still going according to plan amid the pandemic. The completion target is following the predetermined time in March 2023. The manufacture of this satellite has also received supervision from PT Satelit Nusantara 3.
The Minister of Communication and Informatics is sure that this satellite will soon air according to the time specified on orbit 146 BT, which belongs to Indonesia. Thus, domestic telecommunications services will be even better.
"We all still believe that the Satria I satellite will be placed in orbit according to the additional placement time requested by Indonesia," he concluded.
