Jakarta, InfoPublik - President Joko Widodo inaugurated West Papua TVRI Station coinciding with the commemoration of the 92nd Youth Pledge Day, Wednesday, 28 October. This step is a form of government commitment in maintaining unity and ensuring equal access to information in the easternmost province of the country.
"In the momentum of the 92nd Youth Pledge, West Papua TVRI Station as the 30th TVRI Station will be inaugurated," said the President in his virtual remarks.
This station, he continued, will provide the West Papuan people with information which will further strengthen the diversity in this country. By providing a variety of quality information, the people in West Papua are expected to receive the same information as people in other parts of Indonesia.
Every potential possessed by this easternmost province of Indonesia can be disseminated to various region in the country. That way, there will be an exchange of information which in turn will open up opportunities in the context of advancing the region.
"What is happening in Papua can be learned by the people in Java, Sumatra and other regions and vice versa," he said.
The President hoped that with this station, TVRI will continue to become a media that unites the nation through broadcast content that gives rise to the spirit of nationalism. The goal is to lessen the gaps in various sectors throughout the country.
"One means to access information about various developments in Indonesia and the world is through television," he concluded.
