Jakarta, InfoPublik - Human Development and Culture Coordinating Minister Puan Maharani officially launched the Financial Consumer Protection Strategy (SPKK) prepared by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) on Thursday (5/18) at the Indonesia Stock Exchange.
The launching event was marked by the opening of stock exchange and SPKK handover to the representatives of government, consumers, and financial services companies.
Minister Puan also gave student deposit book and golden savings to the representatives of students and Islamic women congregation.
"The government is committed to overcome poverty and income inequality in communities. Community empowerment through finance inclusion can be one of the solutions," said Minister Puan.
“SPKK shows that OJK has a concrete program and a comprehensive policy in protecting consumers from potentially disadvantageous business practices of financial institutions.”
This is the second phase of SPKK that covers the period of 2017 to 2027. Its programs and strategic values implementation at all levels can encourage the financial services industry which eventually will boost the national development.
It can also minimize economic and social disparities by providing consumer access and protection to the financial services industry.
Minister Puan advised financial services industry to build a culture of consumer protection. "I urged the public to use the access to financial products and services," she said.
The event was attended by the OJK’s Board of Commissioner chairman Muliaman D. Hadad and directors as well as Indonesia Stock Exchange executives. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
