Lombok, InfoPublik - Lombok International Airport (LIA) is now Indonesia’s only airport with Motocross and Grass track circuits.
In a workshop entitled Creating a Just and Connected Inter-island Transport, in Lombok, on Thursday (20/4), General Manager of the state-owned airport operator, PT Angkasa Pura I, I Gusti Ngurah Ardita stated that his administration was developing sport tourism through the development of racing circuit in airport.
According to him, the construction of Motocross and Grasstrack circuit (MCG) is one of the efforts to optimize the utilization of land owned by airport.
He expected that LIA MGC will become one of Lombok’s tourism mainstay and pride. He also hoped that in the future, the circuit will present not only national event, but also international event.
The circuit has been launched since 19 February 2017 on West Nusa Tenggara’s Automobile Association Indonesia (IMI) Jamboree Motocross and Grasstrack which was held to celebrate PT Angkasa Pura I’s 53th anniversary.
LIA MGC aims to stimulate the acceleration of infrastructure development around tourism objects, increase new investment in tourism, and disseminate the friendly tourism community in Lombok.
Hundreds of West Nusa Tenggara motorbike clubs and communities came to the launching of LIA MCG which was held in parallel with the IMI NTB Jambore
