Jakarta, InfoPublik – Wonderful Indonesia was promoted at the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) held from 21 to 22 Februaru 2017 in Melbourne, Australia.
The Tourism Ministry's Deputy Assistant for Asia-Pacific Market Development Vinsensius Jemadu, in Jakarta, Wednesday (2/22), stated that the promotion was aimed to attract more foreign tourists from Australia, which is one of Indonesia’s tourism market focus countries. “We would utilize this momentum at AIME to attract more Australian tourists through MICE,” said Vinsen.
He added that the MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention & Exhibition) Tourism Development Acceleration Team would also take an active role within the framework of cooperation with MICE activists in Australia.
Tourism Minister would facilitate 10 Indonesian tourism industries to get the Pre Schedule Appointment (PSA) and the Australian buyers list.
AIME is the biggest business to business (B2B) event in Australia.
Indonesia’s MICE tourism is considered to have a big potential to develop in order to support the achievement of 20 million foreign tourist arrival target in 2019.
“Indonesia has very good locations such as Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Medan, Makassar, Manado, and Bali. That’s why, Indonesia is very potential to top the MICE tourism in South East Asian region,” he said.
Vinsen explained that many wold-scale events were held in Indonesia. It is an evidence of the world’s trust in conducting MICE activities in Indonesia.
“Tourism Minister has participated in AIME event for the second time,” he said.
Participants of AIME event were countries from Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, North American, Russia, Middle East, North Africa, and countries in the Pacific region.
“Wonderful Indonesia Booth was built at the rented space of 50 m2 that was MICE-tourism designed and equipped with pictures of “3 Greater” tourist destinations of Batam, Jakarta, and Bali,” he said.
Based on the data from Tourism Ministry, there were 1,051,141 tourist arrivals in 2015. It is 2 percent lower than that of 2014 at 1,098,383 people.
However, through an intensified promotion, the Ministry is optimistic to meet the target of 1,500,000 Australian tourists in 2017. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
