Jakarta, InfoPublik - Deputy of Human Resources Development Ministy of Cooperative and SMEs, Prakoso Budi Susetyo said the increase in number of enterpreneurs among youth through people’s economic empowerment is expected to solve the problems of unemployment and poverty, when opening an entrepreneurship training at Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University. The event was attended by 600 students from various universities and islamic schools throughout Yogyakarta and surrounding areas.
"Currently, the number of entrepreneurs in Indonesia has only reached 1.65 percent, or about 3.7 million. Whereas, to become a developed country, the number of entrepreneurs must be increased, at least two percent of the population," he said during a press conference in Jakarta, Saturday (11 / 2).
According to him, currently the number of unemployment reached 5.81 percent and the poverty rate reached 28.59 million, or 11.22 percent. "Therefore, santri (islamic boarding school students) and students have to change their mindset from job seekers to job creators," he said.
Santripreuneur (Islamic School Entrepreneurs Association) Board of Trustees Ahmad Sugeng Utomo was optimistic that the number of enterpreuners in Indonesia will not only reach two percent, but 10 percent of the total population if all parties, including central government, local governments, business people, and society , are involved.
