Jakarta, InfoPublik – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia’s economic grew at 5.02 percent in 2016 compared to 4.88 percent in 2015. BPS head Suhariyanto said that last year’s economic growth was better than previous years.
“We could see that Indonesia’s economic grew at 5.02 percent in the whole year. It was higher than 2015 at 4.88 percent and 2014. It showed improvement signs,” he said in Jakarta on Monday (2/6).
In spending sector, Consumption Spending by Non-profit Institution that served household rose at 6.27 precent. Meanwhile, the Financial and Insurance Services grew at 8.90 precent.
“Economic growth in the fourth quarter of 2016 increased 4.94 percent compared to fourth quarter of 2015 (yoy). In production sector, the highest growth came from information and communication at 9.57 percent,” he said.
In industry sector, processing industry became the main source of economic growth in 2016 of 0.92 percent followed by trade at 0.53 percent; construction at 0.51 percent; and information and communication at 0.42 percent.
Indonesia's economic growth in general trading partners, namely, China improved slightly higher to 6.8 percent from 6.7 percent; the United States 1.9 percent from 1.7 percent; and Singapore 1.8 percent from 1.1 percent.
