Jakarta, InfoPublik – Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi revealed that Indonesia’s products has a big opportunity in competing in Egyptian market.
“Indonesia’s products are highly competitive in Egyptian market. With the population of 92 million, Egypt is a potential market for Indonesia,” Minister Retno stated in her press release after having an informal meeting with a number of Indonesian businessmen who have invested in Egyptian market, Monday (2/6).
It was a preparatory meeting prior her working visit to Cairo, Egypt. During the meeting, she listened on numerous opportunities and challenges faced by the businessmen in Egypt. Various commodities that won the market are palm oil, coffee, instant noodle, and tire.
“Egypt is not only a market for Indonesian products, but also the gateway to African and Middle Eastern market,” she said. “Egypt has good port infrastructure and connectivity to Africa and Middle East that can be used by Indonesia.”
From the meeting, Minister Retno also got information that Egyptian businessmen are interested on Indonesia’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs) products. There are also opportunities for Indonesian handicrafts and spa care products in Egypt.
“About 90 percent of Egyptian businessmen are entrepreneurs interested on Indonesian products. Therefore, we must facilitate the export of Indonesian products demanded by Egyptian SMEs,” she said.
