Jakarta, InfoPublik – Indonesian Agriculture Ministry’s Agricultural Research and Development Agency (Balitbangtan) launched the World Food Day logo, for the commemoration of The World Food Day to be held on 28 to 30 October, 2016 in Boyolali, Central Java province.
Balitbangtan Head Muhammad Shakir said, the new logo launched by agriculture ministry is expected to be used permanently at the annual commemoration of the World Food Day. Until recently, the logo of World Food Day always changes every year.
"Each year they always have a new logo.So we proposed a logo to be used permanently in every World Food Day commemoration," said Shakir, in a press conference of the 36th World Food Day dissemination in Jakarta, Tuesday (6/7).
The logo is created by an Indonesian citizen, Nurcahyo Dimas, a young man from Sleman, Yogyakarta. Besides Dimas, there were 1,388 designs submitted by 723 participants from all over Indonesia which took part in a logo design contest that held by Balitbangtan.
According to Shakir, Dimas’ logo contains the elements of Indonesia and convey a message of symbol of food, showing the world that Indonesia can participate and involve in preparing the food supply for the world.
“Participate in the effort, contribute to the world food. These factors are contained in the logo," said Shakir.
This year’s World Food Day is also proclaimed as the Indonesian World Food Day (IWD). The 36th World Food Day commemoration will take place in Boyolali, Central Java. Shakir explained the reason for the appointment of Boyolali to host the event.
"It is time to have Java to host the event. Last year it was held in South Sulawesi. Earlier was in Palembang, and in 2013 was held in Padang," said Shakir. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
