Jakarta, InfoPublik - In addition to giving tax amnesty, the government should also optimize communication with Indonesian businessmen living abroad to encourage them to take their funds home and contribute in the country's development.
"They need to understand that tax amnesty will only be given once. They should take advantage of that opportunity, and not take it for granted if they still love Indonesia as their country," said Indonesian House of Representatives' Commission XI member Supriyatno, on Wednesday (5/18).
It all depends on the government in communicating and disseminating information in order to encourage businessmen and former officials to repatriate their money in the country.
"The government may change the headline from social safety net into asset repatriation or capital repatriation. Maybe a softer headline could be more appealing for them," he said. (Translator: Siti Chodijah)
