Vice President to Open Peparnas Papua

Sentani, InfoPublik – The Daily Chairman of the 2021 National Paralympic Games (Peparnas) Grand Committee Doren Warekwa said that Vice President Ma’ruf Amin will officially open Peparnas Papua at Mandala Stadium, Jayapura City, on Friday, 5 November.

The statement was delivered as the daily chairman led the procession of taking Peparnas fire at Genyem Village, Grime Valley, Nimboran District, Jayapura Regency.

Doren, who also serves as the Regional Secretary of Papua Province, explained that initially, President Joko Widodo was scheduled to open the ceremony. However, the president has another agenda in Rome, Italy, to attend the G20 Summit, the 26^th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow Scotland, and Dubai Expo 2021.

“The President is going to attend those events within his capacity as the head of state. We hope that President Joko Widodo will be able to attend the closing ceremony of Peparnas 2021 on 13 November 2021,” said Doren.

As many as 3,500 athletes and officials from 34 provinces, including Papua as the host, will compete in Peparnas Papua. They will compete in 12 events at 12 venues across Jayapura City and Jayapura Regency.
