Solo - Malaysian journalist Vikneswaran Raman is pleased with the 2022 ASEAN Para Games Media Center presented by Ministry of Communications and Informatics of Republic of Indonesia (Kominfo) located at the Swiss-Belinn Saripetojo Hotel, Solo. According to him, the facilities available at the media center are very satisfying and support his work as a journalist.
When interviewed ahead of the 2022 ASEAN Para Games closing ceremony at the Manahan Stadium, Vikneswaran said that that he had arrived in Solo since 28 July. Vikneswaran is a journalist for the Malaysian media, Bernama.com, who was assigned to cover the biggest sporting event for people with disabilities in Southeast Asia.
"I have arrived since July 28 and have been here for over a week. Everything is good. I got a lot of news from many athletes and visited the venues as well," said Vikneswaran at the Manahan Stadium.
Vikneswaran visited the 2022 ASEAN Para Games Media Center several times and goes around the venues to cover the competitions.
The 2022 ASEAN Para Games Media Center is presented by the Ministry of Communications and Informatics through the Director General of Public Information and Communications.
The Media Center provides 50 computers in the shared workspace with internet speeds of up to 1 GBPS, 200 packages of coffee breaks, lunch and dinner, and massage services.
"In terms of facilities, I as a journalist see that it is very complete, it helps our work as journalists," said Niko, a journalist from Radar Solo when attending a press conference on Saturday, 6 August 2022.
The massage service in the media center is very unique. Nico admitted that he had never found such facility in other media centers.
He also hopes that Kominfo can continue to provide media center facilities like 2022 ASEAN Para Games Solo Media Center in Solo in the next national and international sports event.
Previously, Ministry’s Director General of Public Information and Communications, Usman Kansong, said that Kominfo encourages equality for people with disabilities by creating a public pommunication ecosystem in the 2022 ASEAN Para games Solo through the provision of media center facilities that are friendly to people with disabilities.
“The slogan of the 11th ASEAN Para games 2022 is Striving for Equality. Therefore, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, especially Director General of Public Information and Communications assessed it is important to create a public communication ecosystem that supports that objective,” he said.
According to Director General Usman Kansong, the public communication ecosystem includes, among others, a disabled-friendly media center in the Swiss-Belinn Saripetojo Hotel Solo. Moreover, the location of the media center is easily accessible and not far from the Manahan Stadium, which is the location of many sports competitions. So that the media center is expected to be the reporting center for printed and online media journalists from domestic and abroad who cover the 2022 ASEAN Para Games Solo.
