Solo - The Indonesian cerebral palsy (CP) Football team will compete against Thailand in the final round of the 2022 ASEAN Para Games Solo at the Sebelas Maret University Stadium, Surakarta, Friday afternoon, 5 August 2022. The Indonesian team is targeting to bring home a gold medal.
However, the CP football coach, Anshar Ahmad, said that one of Indonesian top players, M. Ikhsan Tabrani, suffered leg cramps due to hitting the ball in the previous match.
M. Ikhsan Tabrani scored two goals in the first round against Thailand with Indonesia won 3-2. With the absence of M. Ikhsan Tabrani, the strength of the Indonesian team will change, but not with the team's target. Anshar Ahmad emphasized that Indonesia remains targeting to win gold from CP football.
I believe our team will be able to win gold, whoever competes they are the chosen ones. I always say we are the best team,” Anshar explained.
His statement is not without reason. the Indonesian CP football team also recorded a good score in several matches before final.
Indonesia started by beating Thailand 3-2 in the qualifying round, on 31 July. The next day, Indonesia beat Myanmar 5-1 in the second match, and Indonesia closed the qualifying round by beating Cambodia 7-1.
In the semifinal, Cambodia again lost to Indonesia. Indonesia managed to score nine goals, while the Cambodia was only able to score two goals. Meanwhile, Thailand had the opportunity to proceed to the final after beating Myanmar.
This is like what happened at the 2017 ASEAN Para Games in Malaysia where Indonesia also met Thailand in the final round. At that time, Indonesia won gold by beating Thailand 3-0.
Finally, Anshar asked for prayers and support from Indonesian people so that the football team could do their best.
