Nusa Dua, InfoPublik - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla are slated to attend the 2018 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (IMF-WBG) to discuss four main issues, namely, human capital development index, digital economy, sharia finance, and aid for natural disasters.
“President Jokowi is scheduled to be present on 11 and 12 October this year, while Vice President Jusuf Kalla will be present on 10 and 13 October 2018. They will take part in the discussions about those four main issues,” said technical chairperson of the event’s national committee Susiwijono Moegiarso at a joint editor room, Monday (8/10).
Susiwijono explained that human capital development index will be used by countries all over the world in measuring how to develop human resources all over the world.
As for digital economy, Susiwijono pointed out that it is an important proposal from Indonesia. “Policies on digital economy vary from one country to another, so we will release 12 principles on how a country can develop fintech,” Susiwijono said.
Another major issue to be discussed is in sharia finance, which is also an important proposal from Indonesia as a country with the world’s largest Muslim population, Susiwijono added.
In the meantime, related to aid for natural disasters, the meeting is not only about raising funds, but will also discuss contribution from many countries about ways to tackle disasters. “During the meetings, we will also formulate a Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance [DRFI] on how to formulate a payment scheme in tackling disaster risks and post-disaster quakes,” he said.
