Jakarta, InfoPublik – Communication and Information Technology Minister Rudiantara said that the government’s development orientation has changed and his office has also applied Indonesia-centric development orientation. “We must change to Indonesia-centric, not Jakarta-centric or Java-centric anymore,” said Rudiantara in front of the participants of the National Training of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) at the National Resilience Institute’s (Lemhanas) Panca Gatra Building, Jakarta, Monday (10/10).

He said it has been applied to develop internet connectivity in Indonesia. “Recently, Jakarta becomes the second city which has the fastest internet connection. But, the internet speed in Papua and Maluku is just 300 kbps. It is unfair. Therefore, the government’s Palapa Ring Program will provide internet in all regions and cities in Indonesia by 2019,” he said.

Rudiantara invited the businessmen in HIPMI to cooperate in developing Indonesia. “Project demand is no longer the most important thing and I ask the members of HIPMI to urge your regents and mayors to ease the licensing. The idea to complicate things should be eradicated,” he said.

Minister Rudiantara also invited to build Indonesia by increasing the role of regions. “The government, related agencies, and business sectors are expected to be able to realize the vision of Indonesia to be the biggest digital economy in South East Asia by 2020. It will be supported by e-Commerce Roadmap which comprises of 7 issues and 31 initiatives,” he added.

In terms of cybersecurity development, Rudiantara said that the government is going to establish the National Cyber Agency and focuses on three critical sectors, namely banking, transportation, and energy. “MCIT keeps on coordinating with the related leading sectors and is targeting to finish this in 2017,” he concluded.
