Jakarta, InfoPublik – The third series of World Surf League (WSL) Champions Tour 2019 is taking place at Keramas Beach in Gianyar Regency, Bali on May 13—25, 2019.

The event which is under the theme Corona Bali Protected is participated by world rank 37 male and 19 female surfers.

“Indonesia has been chosen as one of the 11 locations of WSL’s championship tour,” Tourism Ministry’s marketing development deputy assistant for East Indonesia, the Philippines, East Timor, and Papua New Guinea regions, Ricky Fauziyani, said in Jakarta on Sunday (5/12).

“From Australia, it continues to Indonesia, Brazil, South Africa, North America, French Polynesia, Europe, and Hawaii. It is a prove that Indonesia has a world class surfing spot.”

The ministry’s marine tourism development acceleration team chair Indroyono Soesilo added the government eyed the surfing destinations potential in Indonesia to attract foreign tourists.

“The government sees a huge opportunity in surfing. Therefore, we cooperate with WSL to support a number of surfing events organized in Indonesia,” he said.

“Indonesia is blessed with beaches and waves that spread in the western and southern coasts of Indian Ocean as well as in the Pacific Ocean’s coastal area.

“Indonesia has hundreds of surfing beaches in which 30 are the world class locations. They will put Indonesia at the top-level surfing destination country in the world,” he concluded. (Translator: Filmon Warouw)
