Jakarta, InfoPublik - Chancellor of Pertamina University, Prof. Akhmaloka, Ph.D., said that Pertamina University will always commit to producing the Bachelor Plus program which will contribute to the nation and country, especially in the fields of business and energy technology that are specialized.
"They are the first generation of students pursuing higher education at Pertamina University. They will play a major role in the era of demographic bonuses to fill strategic job posts that will determine our nation's progress," Akhmaloka said during an online interview after the 1st Pertamina University graduation ceremony for Academic Year 2019/2020, Wednesday (29/07).
He explained human resource development is the key to Indonesia's progress in the future. The government places HR development as the top priority, even becoming the theme of the 74th Republic of Indonesia independence commemoration, namely "Excellent HR, Advanced Indonesia." Superior HR has a close correlation with increasing work productivity in winning competition in the business, economic, political, and cultural world.
He predicted a productive workforce to become a demographic bonus for Indonesia in the next few years. Ideally, college graduates fill the highest proportion of the productive workforce. By 2030, the government predicts the educated and skilled workers will be the majority of Indonesia's population. A diploma and a grade transcript are not enough for college graduates to survive in the era of work competition in the future. To become a bachelor graduate plus, one must master the formation of good attitudes, habits, various soft skills, technical skills, and certifications.
To prepare students to be bachelor graduates plus who have smart, flexible, cooperative, and able to work professionally, Pertamina University presents Critical Thinking and Creative Problem-Solving courses. These courses teach problem-solving critical from various perspectives.
"The graduates have also completed an internship program in the industry which will certainly add knowledge and hone the skills needed in the world of work," he explained.
From graduation data, 104 graduates of 193 graduates of Pertamina University, earned cum laude titles.
