Research, Technology and Higher Education Ministry Grants Award to Five Most Inspiring Start-ups

Jakarta, InfoPublik – Indonesian Research, Technology and Higher Education Ministry granted awards to 5 most inspiring startup products that are assisted by the Ministry through its Technology-Based Startup Company (PPBT) Program at the Indonesia Startup Summit (ISS) 2019 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIE) 2019, Wednesday (10/4).

The awards included The Most Inspiring Startup granted to Compac Motorcycle, a product invented by Suwanto from Diponegoro University; The Most Breakthrough Startup granted to Kapal Pelat Datar, a product of PT Juragan Kapal which developed the product together with University of Indonesia’s (UI) Shipping Engineering Study Program; The Most Social Impact Startup granted to Aruna Indonesia, an application that helps connecting fishermen to consumer, developed by Farid Naufal Aslam, a Telkom University graduate; The Most Growing Startup awarded to GESITS, a product developed by Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) and produced by PT. Wijaya Manufacturing, a joint venture company of PT. Gesits Technologies Indo (GTI) with state-owned enterprises (SOEs) subsidiaries, PT Wijaya Karya Industri dan Konstruksi (WIKON); and The Most Competitive Innovation awarded to Katalis Merah Putih, a product invented by Professor Subagjo from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

Research, Technology and Higher Education Minister Mohamad Nasir explained, with technological innovation, a nation can optimize the use of its resources effectively and efficiently, provide value-added to technology products, and contribute significant impact to economy.

"Innovation and science and technology mastering bring power to compete in a competitive trade battle. This is in line with new paradigm in the globalization era that is innovation and technology based. Innovation and technology will become the most important factors to improve life quality of a nation in the future," said Nasir.

Also attended the summit were Research, Technology and Higher Education Ministry’s Secretary General Ainun Na'im, Director general for strengthening of innovation, Jumain Appe, Director General of Technology and Higher Education Resources (SDID) Ali Ghufron Mukti, Echelon II officials, heads of non-ministerial government institutions (LPNK), representatives of Industry Ministry, representatives of Transportation Ministry, rectors of state and private university, leaders of industry partner, innovators, researchers, and hundreds of participants consisted of students and public. (Reporter G.
