Govt Expects Continuous Education in Asmat

Jakarta, InfoPublik - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Puan Maharani accompanied by Social Minister Idrus Marham, Health Minister Nila F Moeloek, Education and Culture Minister Muhadjir Effendi, and Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko paid a visit to Asmat regency of Papua Province.

Coordinating Minister Puan said that education and medication team deployment will be arranged according to the needs. There are already four medication teams that have been deployed by the Ministry of Health.

"This month, we plan to add Healthy Nusantara Team (30 people) who will conduct searching and providing services to the districts throughout the Asmat regency," said Coordinating Minister Puan, Thursday (2/22).

In general the malnutrition cases have currently been handled properly. From 80 cases of malnutrition, only two patients left. One of the patients has been allowed to return home and the other one still needs treatment because there is a medical disorder.

According to her, the Government is intended to conduct continuous holistic measures progressively. Coordinating Minister Puan acknowledged the many homeworks to finish, including transformation intohygienic way of life  as well as healthy and nutritious diet.

"How do we grow food in order to achive food security. Sago is common here, but we need to know how to grow it properly. Disemination and education should be conducted in stages," said Coordinating Minister Puan.

Coordinating Minister Puan and her entourage visited Badminton Sport Arena to provide assistance to mothers and toddlers who participated in the Asmat Regency's First 1000-Day-Life Program (HPK) program. In addition, she also inaugurated the members of Taruna Siaga Bencana (Tagana) and inaugurated Kampung Siaga Bencana (KSB) in Asmat District. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
