Jakarta, InfoPublik - Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) targets E-KTP form distribution to be completed in October 2017.

According to Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, 4.8 million people have recorded their data, but have not yet received the E-KTP card. "The recording was conducted gradually. From 7.8 million cards, we will prepare 4.8 million cards for those who have recorded their data and the rest for other purposes," said the minister in a written statement on Sunday (5/7).

The rest of the cards are for replacing damaged cards or for residents  changing statuses or home addresses.

"We have signed the contract with the printing company and targetted the 4.8 million forms to bedistributed by October 2017.” he said.

He admitted that currently the government has difficulty in collecting the data, since a number of residents have not recorded their data. Tjahjo said the people’s reluctancy has become one of the constraints.

"The government's temporary solution is to ensure that these people are still residing in the same premises as recorded in the government’s latest data," he said.

He added that until March 2017, there were 96.54 percent or 172,046,898 people who had recorded their data for E-KTP. While 3.46 percent or 6,160,452 have not had their data recorded. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
