1,500 Journalists Attend World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) 2017

Jakarta, InfoPublik - More than 1,500 journalists,  500 of whom are foreign journalists from 90 countries around the world, attending World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) 2017 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).

This year’s World Press Freedom Day celebration takes the theme of “Critical Minds for Critical Times: Media’s role in advancing peaceful, just and inclusive societies”and is taking place in Jakarta from 1-4 May, 2017 in Jakarta, with the opening ceremony will be held on May 3, 2017.

The event is co-organized by  United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT),  and  Indonesian Press Council.

Indonesian Press Council Chairman Yosep Adi Prasetyo  urged all domestic journalists  from various printed, online, and electronic media to attend every discussion in WPFD 2017.

"In order to enhance journalists’ knowledge on journalism in various countries, WPFD will present interesting issues and bring international speakers," said Yosep.

World Press Freedom Day is commemorated every year on 3 May. For this year’s celebration, Indonesia is honored to host World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) 2017.

WPFD 2017 uses 10 rooms as discussion venues. The discussion concept emphasize  on interaction between speakers and participants.

Second day’s discussion witnessed enthusiastic  journalists, evidenced by the large number of participants asking various questions  during sessions. To these questions speakers answered thoroughly.
