Jakarta, InfoPublik – Home Minister Tjahjo Kumolo observed that the Regional Election Law could stop money politics practice in Simultaneous Regional Election 2017.

He said this practice is gradually abandoned. There were no reports from the representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) in 101 regions that implement the simultaneous regional election.

"This law is very strict in [prohibiting] money politics," said the Minister in a press release on Sunday (2/19).

He underlined that the success indicator of Simultaneous Regional Election 2017 is the absence of money politics.

He said a number of civil servants from MOHA were deployed to the 101 regions. "They also coordinated with the supervisory elements of the simultaneous regional election in their respective working areas and reported the situation through video conference," he said.

That way, the changes in the situation could be observed in detail from time to time. If problems occurred, we could deal it immediately.

"If there was a money politics practice, then it might be done secretly. Because if we found out, both the giver and receiver would be given sanction,” he said. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
