BPK, JAN Agree on Public Sector Inspection Cooperation

Jakarta, InfoPublik – Indonesia Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) and Malaysia National Audit Department (JAN)  agreed to cooperate on public sector inspection.

The cooperation was marked by the signing of the renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between  Indonesia and Malaysia on February 12, 2017 in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia. 

The MoU was signed by BPK Chairman Harry Azhar Azis and JAN Deputy Auditor General Khalid Khan Abdullah Khan and witnessed by BPK and Jan officials.

In a press release received in Jakarta on Monday (2/13), BPK Chairman stated that the MoU aimed to strengthen, improve, and develop cooperation between the two audit institutions for public sector inspection on the basis of equality and mutual benefits.

“The cooperation covers some activities, such as information exchanges, procedure practices, and public sector audit methodology through training, parallel examination, and study visits,” Harry said.

Furthermore, he said, the cooperation also includes a capacity building program for financial statement audit, performance and compliance, referring to the international standard to improve organizational, institutional, and individual competencies of both countries' audit agencies.

The cooperation between Indonesia's BPK and Malaysia's JAN were initiated since the first MoU signed in 2007 in Mexico.

During the nine years of cooperation, some output have been produced, such as sharing knowledge on the development of forestry inspection management, GIS and GPS, e-audit, water management system inspection, Hajj management, training centre’s e-learning, as well as human resources.
