September 2016 Exports Decreased by 1.84 Percent

Jakarta, InfoPublik – Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) recorded export value of September 2016 at 12.51 billion US dollars or decreased by 1.84 percent compared to August 2015 which reached 12.74 billion US dollars.

BPS head Suhariyanto said the decline in exports was influenced by the 1.35 percent decrease in non-oil and gas sales as well as the oil and gas exports that declined by 6.78 percent to 1.06 billion dollars.

"The decline in oil and gas exports was caused by the declining in exports of oil products by 2.02 percent to 79 million dollars. In addition, crude oil export was also declined by 12.36 percent to 428 million dollars. Similar thing happened to gas export which experiencing a decline by 2.66 percent," said Suhariyanto in BPS office, Monday (17/10).

Cumulatively from January to September 2016, the value of oil and gas exports reached 104.36 billion US dollars, or decreased by 9.41 percent compared to the same period of 2015. Similarly, non-oil exports reached 94.66 billion US dollars or declining by 6.09 percent.

Non-oil exports’ largest decline occurred in jewelry or gems amounting to 137 million US dollars. Meanwhile, the largest increase occurred in iron and steel product which reached 94.3 million US dollars.

Based on non-oil export destination countries, the United States holds the first position, reaching 1.36 billion US dollars; China holds the second place with 1.35 billion dollars, and Japan at the third place with 1.11 billion US dollars. The three countries contributed 33.28 percent of trade value.

BPS also recorded the value of export to 28 European Union countries reached 1.22 billion US dollars. Based on the province of origin, the largest Indonesian exports in January-September 2016 came from West Java which amounted to 18.86 billion dollars (18.07 percent), East Java at 13.96 billion dollars (13.38 percent), and East Kalimantan which amounted to 9.92 billion US dollars (9.50 percent).
