Anthony Ginting Advance to Quarterfinals of Australian Open

Jakarta, InfoPublik – Indonesian Badminton Player Anthony Ginting moved to the quarterfinals of Australian Open Super Series Badminton Tournament. He won two out of three set match against Indian Player, Sameer Verma.

He lost the first set against Verma in Sports Center, Sydney on Thursday (9/6). However, the world’s No. 22 in the Men’s Singles made a bounced up and won the match registering a 11-21, 21-7, 21-19 in 53 minutes.

At the first set, he’s having difficult time facing Verma. He was initially lagging when Verma took a 14-4 lead and couldn’t catch his opponent’s points.

Anthony made a strong comeback in the second set. It was his turn to make Verma helpless. Anthony kept adding points and led by 16-3. He only gave Verma 7 points for this set. 

The final set run very tight. Verma led for several times by 5-3 and 10-8, but Anthony reversed the situation. He turned the lead and won the set by 21-19.

Anthony will face either Chinese’s Chen Long or Malaysian’s Zulfadli Zulkifli in the quarterfinals. (Translator: Rina Alexandra)
