Jakarta, InfoPublik - Developing countries that are members of the Developing Eight (D-8) are committed to boost industrial cooperation. Indonesia and Egypt are negotiating for cooperation between PT. INKA Indonesia Railway Industry and Egyptian State-owned enterprise (SOE).

"PT INKA is planning to hold industrial and trade cooperation contract with one of Egyptian leading SOEs regarding the procurement of railroad car and truck head, as well as the development of maintenance and repairs facilities in Egypt," said Industry Ministry’s director general for international industrial security and access development, Achmad Sigit Dwiwahjono, Thursday (5/12).

In general, D8 members’ agreement in the industrial sector is manifested in the 9th Working Group on Industrial Cooperation and the 5th D-8 Ministerial Meeting on Industrial Cooperation in Cairo, Egypt on 9—11 May, 2016.

"This meeting is focused on discussion regarding cooperation in industrial sector between D-8 member countries, namely Indonesia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey," said Mr. Dwiwahjomo.

He said that some D-8 member countries including Indonesia use this event to establish bilateral cooperation to boost industrial development in the bilateral level.

"We have met Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt H.E. Helmy Fauzi. The meeting mostly discussed potential bilateral cooperation in the industrial field between Indonesia and Egypt, including those in initiation level as well as those with potential benefit for both countries," he said.
